In a move that is actually pretty uncommon these days, Riot Games listens to its player base and delivers changes that spark joy and create excitement as they also announce a really fun and new project.
What a nice way to kill two birds with one stone!
Riot and UVS Games team up to bring up Project K
This past Monday, Riot Games, the gaming company that owns my soul at this point and I don't really care, announced its partnership with UVS Games - a company known for its fun and long-running TCG, UniVersus Collectible Card Game - in the creation of a TCG revolving around our favorite League of Legends champions. While both companies are still keeping major deets and designs under wraps as they iron out the kinks, it's safe to say we're in for a freaking treat. It'll be super interesting to see how each champion's ability ties in with the card and how items and runes will come into play - if they do at all.
I am really hoping my two mains, Seraphine and Draven, make it and have their own cards. Also, dear Riot, I'm just asking for a Poro card. It doesn't need to do anything, it just adds to the "cute" factor.
Either way, fuck yes.
On to our second piece of Riot Games goodness.
League of Legends Dev Update
What a wonderful day to be a League of Legends player! And I actually mean that!
In the above video, Pabro and Meddler both let us know the company has listened to us and has decided to give us what we've all been asking for:
Hextech Chests are coming back - earn up to 10 Chests and Keys per Act
There's an Honor system coming, which will also allow for a Hextech Chest. More on that coming soon.
The Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% as of next patch to help newer players build out their champion roster, helping League continue to thrive long-term.
The Sahn Uzal Mordekaiser skin is being delayed so it's only released when perfected. There will also be improvement to all future Exalted skins, so we probably won’t see one in every Act this year.
One of the the non-Prestige skins on the paid Seasonal Pass will be replaced with 25 Mythic Essence.
For Act 2, the skins slated to be on the paid Pass will be Darius, Sion, and Talon.
ARURF kicks off Clash's monthly schedule in March, and the regular Summoner’s Rift in April.
The Dev team closed out the news with this heartfelt statement:
“Now, as we wrap up, we want to acknowledge that we know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments. We’ve always built League along with all you, the community. Thank you for sticking with us and hearing us out, and we look forward to continuing to work with you to make sure League is the best game it can be. Thanks so much, and we’ll see you on the Rift.” - League of Legends Dev Team

With all of this to look forward to, it truly is a great time to be a League player.
