Ekko and Jinx in the music video for "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" by Stromae and Pomme

Back in December, I wrote an article asking Riot Games where I could send an invoice for my therapy bill. Not only does my question still remain unanswered, but Riot also decided it wasn't done hurting our feelings.

Today, at 11:55am EST, the music video for Riot's biggest streaming debut ever, "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" by Stromae and Pomme, made its global debut. The incredibly beautiful, hauntingly emotional, and sway-inducing song has peaked at over 10 million streams per day and has reached Top 3 globally on Spotify charts - and I believe 75% of those plays might be mine. When I say I love this soundtrack, I mean it, and it's not just me - 1.3 billion global streams to date means it's solid. And, as if Riot knew my birthday is in April, the highly-anticipated deluxe extended album will be released next month.

Hell yes.

If you weren't one of the 12 thousand fans who were waiting for the global release of this video this morning, don't fret - you can watch it below. Make sure you have tissues.

The lyrics, the way Jinx and Ekko look at each other in the video, and watching flashbacks of them dancing in the happier, alternate timeline we see in the show all culminate in one powerful punch to the gut.

Mais ma meilleure ennemie, c'est toi Fuis-moi, le pire c'est toi et moi Mais si tu cherches encore ma voix Oublie-moi, le pire c'est toi et moi (But my best enemy is you. Flee from me. The worst is you and me. And if you’re still searching for my voice, forget me. The worst is you and me.)
Ekko and Jinx

The way Ekko embraces Jinx at the end, her expressions steering from hopelessness to a relieved smile, and the attention to the details of the expressions in their eyes and body language towards each other are impeccable. And enough to fuel the fires of fanficion for another 10 years. But you can feel the unspoken words, you can feel the tug and push. The way Ekko wraps his arms around her at the end, and the way she relaxes in his arms with the smallest of genuine smiles, feeling safe and hopeful, makes us not only hope that she can one day be happy but that she's... alive.

Ekko embraces Jinx

Stromae and Pomme's vocal ranges and talent fit Jinx and Ekko's narrative beautifully, and perfectly paints their story for us. It's a powerful one, and the lyrics hit like an emotionally charged grenade.

With the second and final season of Arcane all wrapped up, all we have to keep us die-hard Arcanists going (is that a thing? Did I just make that term up? Can this be canon, Riot?) are these incredible additions to its soundtrack like the upcoming extended version and their music videos. All I know is I'll still be listening to this show's entire soundtrack until we get the next League of Legends show.

So, dear Riot, where can I send my updated therapy bill?
